New School Year New You!

The first week has sailed by, and now we (as I), am on to the second week. This post is a tad bit late. However, I figured some may not have been fully prepared for this new school year. The saying goes:

Better late than never.”

And I am so serious, I stand by this quote although I should not! When in all actuality, if you FAIL to PREP, you are PREPPING to FAIL! No one likes failing so, I think it is a good time to PREP. For those that have already prepped for the already started school year, let’s go ahead and let the ones that haven’t, prep (me…sort of!)

New School Year New You

Get Organized || Some professors have their syllabus already online for you to print out. They are actually trying to help you out by giving you a sneak peek into the semester’s roller coaster of a ride.  I printed all of the syllabi I could get my hands on. I also, went ahead and bought all the necessary school supplies I need in order to separate each class. My blue folder for one class, yellow for one class and purple for another. The same goes for all of my binders. I also purchased a large family calendar so that I can track what is going in class everyday and every week. By doing this I could also write down Dave’s schedule and that way we can both see what the month holds. Oh yeah, and be sure to be active in KEEPING organized, it is easy to become organized the hard part is staying organized.

Make a Routine || I’m pretty sure I’ve heard a bout making routines a bazillion times, so I’m sure everyone else has heard it once before. Well I’m here to say it another time! In all seriousness routine making a following is key to having a swift morning, midday and night. Your body and mind will get to know what comes next in line. Routines really do help to make things run smooth and get you in the habit of  knowing when to start and stop your homework, or when to stop with your down-time and hop on your study-time. For me, in the morning I take my dogs out, make coffee, feed the dogs, pack my lunch and sometimes dinner. The I pack Dave’s lunch, hit the shower, get my clothes on, pack my bag and sit outside with Dave and part for the day.  My evening  and midday routine has not been set. All I do thus far, is go to class ( I use the same stairway), then use the computer lab til 2:00 pm and then study for my next and head to my next class at 4:00 pm. Putting alarms in your mobile devices help you to keep on track with your routine.

Get a Designated Study Area || DSA…designated study area, which is really self-explanatory.  Find a good area to study that will not distract you. I don’t like the library because their are too many snickering people there. I go to the commons and sit there or I stay in an out of sight place outside.  This helps me A LOT!  Also, Dave and I turned a closet space into an office and I study there when I am at home otherwise I’d find myself leaning over to catch what he’s watching! -__-

Once Again Make a Routine || I’m pretty sure I’ve heard a bout making routines a bazillion times, so I’m sure everyone else has heard it once before. Well I’m here to say it another time! In all seriousness routine making a following is key to having a swift morning, midday and night. Your body and mind will get to know what comes next in line. Get an Amazing Planner || Some people, not I, think that planners are overrated! I say, for me, they are very much needed! I would lose my mind, marbles and all the above! I also place sticky notes in my planner too! I am planner and list obsessed and I like it that way. It keeps my organized, and when I do forget to write things down in my planner I think I have nothing else to do!  I accidentally double book appointments and I’ll have to cancel one, which is why I write down almost 98.9% of my thoughts and plans into my planner. I Erin Condren’s Life Planner. She’s got planners for EVERYTHING and she adds to her website almost daily! I also enjoy these planners as well: May Books and FiloFax.

Gather up Some Support || We look to Tumblr, Pinterest and a bunch of other social media websites for “inspo.” My Tumblr is filled with fitspo and fashion inspo! I also have a ton of “careerspo” to keep me motivated, to support me when I feel like giving up. Trust me go on Pinterest or on Tumblr type in your career of choice, or even what you are taking during the semester and you will find people who are struggling with the same things as you.  My favorite support on Tumblr would be  Total Pre-Med Move.
